Information points along the Hungarian section of the Saint Martin Route:

The Saint Martin European Cultural Route’s Hungarian Council has begun to establish an “info-point” network along the route’s section in Hungary.

At these points the following information can be obtained:

  • the route’s section near the locality
  • accomodation facilities locally and nearby
  • interesting sights in connection with Saint Martin in the vicinity
  • general information regarding the Saint Martin European Cultural Route

At the designated places all publications by the Saint Martin Route will be available. Amongst the information points there will be Tourinform offices, pubs and inns, as well as Houses of Culture and they will be marked with a ‘Via Sancti Martini – Info Point’ plaque.

The St George Abbey of Ják was founded by Marthinus Magnus de Jaak in cca. 1220, and it was consecrated in 1256. Its magnificent recessed doorway is the finest example of Hungary’s Romanesque architecture. The monastery, built adjacent to the church but destroyed in the late 16th century, was the home of Benedictine monks.   .....
